28th Jun 2018: Post-Birthday Thoughts
I've set my birthday to private (Only me) on Facebook. Since years ago, it has dawned on me that the many "happy birthday"s were pretty pointless. Most of the wishes come from people only wished because Facebook notified them. Quality to me, outweighs quantity. What matter to me really are the thoughts and efforts from people who I feel I made effort for. Gifts don't even matter. A card would have made me very happy. But otherwise, even a simple wishing makes me contented to know they kept me in their thoughts. It was a good way to sieve out people who make the effort to remember your birthday and people who are not. For the past few years, a few people have been wishing me without fail. People like Chandru, my Wife, my Sweetheart. There are usually a few belated ones from people who are bad with dates like Boon, Dodo. It has been a little disappointing this year.
