02nd Aug 2018: Working With An Imbecile
Starting from last week, I was tasked to mine for data. The process supposedly is like this.
(1) I go to the website Z gives. The website has company names, contacts of the person-in-charge, company's address, and other info.
(2) I take these info and put them in an Google Spreadsheet.
(3) I cold call these companies and ask them for their interest in the service we wanna offer.
I fucking hate cold calling. Most of the time, it's of no use and a waste of time. Plus, there's too much details of the service for anyone to easily understand over phone call. Email is more efficient.
I think the Universe heard me because the landline phone broke down. #ThankYouUniverse. So I started with the cold emails. Which I was happily doing until Z comes and pick on what I did and how I should be doing.
Also, another instruction Z gave was that I should pass companies that has unit number in their address because their staff strength is probably not enough for our service.
That was yesterday.
Today, he changed he mind. He said I should reach out to companies that have unit number in their address too. He also added on that I should go to each of their company website and check out their staff strength.
Not sure if his brains malfunctioned or he's just retarded.
(1) Does he really think every company list the number of employees they have on their website?
(2) Sure, I probably can find out the number of employees the company has through other means because there are sites that actually provide the numbers. But is it really necessary?
Sending out one cold email takes me about 1 to 3 mins. It will take me more than that if I have to take the extra step to source out the number of employees they have. What for? Why can't I just send out the emails to ALL of the leads instead of wasting time to find out the staff strength of each company?
I really don't know what the fuck he is thinking.
In addition, he tried to push the blame to me for something else this morning.
Apparently, we had a landlord who was interested in our service. He asked me to reach out to the caterer involved in this service to provide bentos. Which I did.
Jing almost instantly told us off in our team group chat saying we shouldn't do that. We should have asked for the caterers interest in taking up the landlord. Only when they are, then we ask for their bento.
Zaim said, "HY asked first."
Wtf? I was only following his advice right? And now he's pushing the blame to me.
This is really the start of a toxic work environment unfolding itself. This manager should rename himself to Imbecile. Or IMBECILE, since he likes to send all his email with the subject title in ALL CAPS.
Is there anything I am annoyed with him right now? Oh yea of course.
(1) The constant bugging me for the landline.
Hello, I didn't buy it. I don't know. Ask the boss. Quit pestering me. I'm not a technician and I don't specialize in fixing phones. If you're so unhappy about me not being able to call, voice it out to the boss or buy a new landline for the company then.
(2) His constant burping with sound.
Fuck lah, disgusting piece of shit. Tried listening to music on earpiece but whenever I do that, he will always have things to wanna keep say to me. Really fucking gross imbecile.
